So, what does it take to get on The fabulous Grandads song list? Well, in our previous bands, all three of us were guilty of musical prostitution to a greater or lesser degree - Neil probably the most guilty, with gems like 'The Birdy Song' and Agadoo' making regular appearances on the set list. But in those days it was all about earning a living and playing the songs that would maximise the earning potential of the band. With the birth of The fabulous Grandads came a completely different and very simple criteria. We'll play the songs we like. Most of the songs on our set list were new to us (that is, we never played them before) when we first began playing together - that's almost fifty new songs to learn in one go - a far cry from the old rate of one new song a month. Hence the (almost embarrassing) presence of music stands and ipads on stage - a first for all of us. Thankfully, it seems that our audiences today seem to like our choices as much as we do so we'll stay with the formula and just carry on doing it our way.
